In their latest move in a battle against a builder, legendary actors
Dilip Kumar and wife
Saira Banu have issued a defamation notice to Sameer Bhojwani, the real estate developer who made claims of ownership on their property in
Bandra
, Mumbai. The property is worth Rs 250 crores. The notice was sent on December 31, 2018, and apart from an apology, also asks him for Rs 200 crores for causing damage to their reputation. This has to be done within 10 days. Bhojwani is said to be out on bail.
The case has been going on since quite some time now, and refers to their land in
Pali Hill
where Saira Banu wishes to make a museum that is dedicated to Dilip Kumar. The builder has claimed rights over the property that belongs to them. Both Dilip Kumar and Banu also filed a complaint against the builder in January 2018 for forging the documents of their land. The actors have stated that this property was bought for Rs.1,50,000 by them back in 1953. Banu had also asked Prime Minister
Narendra Modi a couple of days back to look into this matter, and now, the notice they have sent states that they will go ahead with criminal proceedings if the said sum is not given within 10 days.
The notice to the builder reads as follows: The said press note was published with a criminal intention to grab/ encroach the legitimate rights of my clients by creating a perception in the general public at large that you are the owner/ landlord of the said property and you are free to deal with the same. My clients have also come to know that you are trying for the sale of the property or a lien by representing yourself as the owner of the said property.
