Amidst the success of his latest film '12th Fail', Vikrant Massey finds himself embracing a new chapter in life as a proud father. Directed by the filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra, the movie has garnered widespread acclaim for its compelling narrative and character portrayals. In a recent interview, Vikrant expressed his admiration for Chopra's directorial prowess, revealing an incident during filming when he was shot without makeup due to a skin burn sustained during preparations for the role.
In an interview with GQ India, Vikrant Massey said that he spent almost a year and a half preparing for the film, and the three months prior to the shooting were filled with extensive workshops and reading sessions. He had to lose weight and tan his skin. While tanning, his skin actually got burnt, and he freaked out, thinking they'd have to push our shoot by a couple of weeks.
Recalling an incident during the filming of '12th Fail', Vikrant, now a new father, shared how director Vidhu Vinod Chopra responded when he sustained a skin burn. Rather than resorting to makeup to cover the injury, Chopra proposed shooting the scene in its raw form, prioritising realism over cosmetic alterations.
Sharing the toughest part of the film, Massey said that the toughest part of this journey for him, however, was the emotional weight that came with playing this character. Someone who represents the dreams of millions of Indians. To tell a real India story that would resonate with the masses.
'12th Fail' delves into the world of UPSC aspirants, drawing inspiration from real-life experiences. This slice-of-life drama poignantly captures the challenges faced by countless students navigating the rigorous UPSC entrance exam. As a biographical drama, it offers a compelling portrayal of Manoj Kumar Sharma's journey, illustrating his triumph over adversity to attain the prestigious position of an IPS officer.
The film garnered acclaim from numerous Indian celebrities, including Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Kamal Haasan, Rishabh Shetty, Sanjay Dutt, Farhan Akhtar, and Anil Kapoor, among others.
