Did you know Nawazuddin Siddiqui trained Ranveer Singh for his debut in Band Baaja Baaraat? Actor says, 'Uske andar khud ki kabiliyat thi'
In a surprising revelation that sheds light on the lesser-known early chapters of his career, acclaimed actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui recently disclosed his significant role in shaping the initial steps of Bollywood star Ranveer Singh. The actor, celebrated for his powerful performances in films like Gangs of Wasseypur, shared that he played a crucial part in preparing a then-aspiring Ranveer Singh for his breakthrough debut in the Yash Raj Films' hit Band Baaja Baaraat, which was released in 2010.
From Workshop Facilitator to Acclaimed Actor
Long before he achieved widespread fame and critical acclaim with the release of Gangs of Wasseypur in 2012, Nawazuddin Siddiqui was actively involved in conducting acting workshops for numerous aspiring talents seeking to make their mark in the competitive world of Bollywood. When questioned about his involvement in training Ranveer Singh during a recent interview with Pinkvilla, Nawazuddin confirmed his past role, stating succinctly, “Kuch waqt ke liye kiya tha (I did for some time)." This previously unpublicized aspect of his career highlights his early contributions to the industry, extending beyond his own acting prowess.
Despite acknowledging his role in working with Ranveer Singh before his debut, Nawazuddin was quick to downplay the idea that he played a pivotal role in Ranveer's subsequent meteoric rise to stardom. With characteristic humility and insight into the craft of acting, he emphasized the inherent individual journey involved in becoming a successful actor. He explained, “Acting kabhi sikhayi nahi ja sakti. Koi pudiya nahi hai. Aap ko khud ko find out karna padta hai. Uske andar khud ki kabiliyat thi. Haan aap ko raasta dikhaya ja sakta hai ki iss taraf se bhi jaya ja sakta hai. Lekin jana toh aap ko hi padega na. (Acting can’t be taught. It’s not some magic potion. You have to discover it within yourself. He had his own talent. Yes, you can be shown a path, that you can go this way too, but in the end, you have to walk it yourself).” This statement underscores Nawazuddin's belief that while guidance and direction can be provided, the true essence of acting lies in an individual's innate talent and their personal exploration of the craft.
