Did you know iconic villain Ajit refused to help son Shehzad Khan in his Bollywood career?
The late Bollywood star Hamid Ali Khan, better known by his screen name Ajit, was popular for his villainous roles. His son, Shehzad Khan, aka Bhalla of 'Andaz Apna Apna', also established himself as a notable screen villain. But did you know iconic villain Ajit never helped his son Shehzad Khan realise his Bollywood dreams?
Yes, you read it right! Shehzad Khan, in a recent interaction with Siddharth Kannan, revealed that his father, Hamid Ali Khan, aka Ajit, never helped him during the early phase of his career. The actor recalled that when he first told his father that he wanted to be an actor, he gave me his peculiar look and said, 'I won’t make any films for you. (I won’t launch you.) You go and struggle and try not to use my name. Also, don’t make me talk to someone on the phone.'
When asked why his father didn’t help him bag roles in films or promote him in the film circle, Shehzad shared that his father saw the debacle of the son of one of the superstars of the time, Rajinder Kumar’s son, Kumar Gaurav. His first film was a superhit, but then his career graph went down. So, he thought, if this can be the fate of a hero’s son, he is just a character actor.
Shehzad expressed that his father gave him a hard and tough life. He is thankful for it now, while earlier he used to cry throughout the night wondering, ‘What wrong did I do to be treated this way?'.
