Abhishek Bachchan took to his social media to share his excitement about 'Sholay: The Final Cut'. Sharing a poster of the film and calling it a lifelong dream, the actor wrote, "The greatest story never told! Can’t wait to witness Sholay in all its glory on the big screen. I have NEVER seen Sholay on the big screen, only on TV and VHS/DVD. It’s been a lifelong dream."
Difference between the original 'Sholay' and the upcoming one
For those unaware, 'The Final Cut' version of the film will feature the original climax and two deleted scenes. The re-release celebrates the 50th anniversary of 'Sholay'.
Reportedly, the original climax of the movie was removed from the film, as the makers received such orders from the
Central Board of Film Certification. The CBFC asked to drop the scene for its violent content since the movie was released during the Emergency era.
The original scene will showcase Sanjeev Kumar's Thakur killing Amjad Khan's Gabbar Singh with his spiked shoes.

Directed by Ramesh Sippy, the film starred Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra in the lead roles. The movie also featured Hema Malini, Jaya Bachchan, Sanjeev Kumar, Asrani, Mac Mohan, Jadeep, Vijy Khote, Om Shivpuri, Sachin Pilgaonkar, and more. It was released in theaters on August 15, 1975.
The uncut version was showcased at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival.
