Dibyendu Bhattacharya opens up on working with Alia Bhatt in 'Alpha': 'She is a good actor'
Dibyendu Bhattacharya surprised audiences with his restrained performance as a judge in 'Maamla Legal Hai 2', a stark contrast to the show's comedic tone. He found the role challenging, balancing dignity with ambiguity. Looking ahead, Bhattacharya is set to star in YRF's 'Alpha' and the upcoming series 'Raakh'.
While ‘Maamla Legal Hai 2’ thrives on humour and eccentric characters, Dibyendu Bhattacharya stands out by doing the opposite, keeping his performance restrained. Playing a newly appointed judge, the actor admitted he was unsure how audiences would respond, but the unexpected appreciation has pleasantly surprised him after the show’s release.Sharing his thoughts with Mid-Day, the actor shared, “I didn’t understand how people would take this character because everybody is doing comedy except me. But now, I feel people have liked my character a lot. They didn’t expect such a twist,” he shared, reflecting on the overwhelming response after the show’s release. For Bhattacharya, the role wasn’t about screen time but depth. Even though his part in ‘Maamla Legal Hai 2’ wasn’t extensive, it demanded precision and control, especially given the dignity associated with a judge’s role. “It was tough because I had to be precise as there is a certain dignity and sanctity attached to the position of a judge. [My character] also had to balance between how much to tell and not. The character was written in a way that you can’t tell whether he is positive or negative,” he explained.

The film boasts of good actors and technicians.”He also spoke warmly about working alongside Alia Bhatt, adding, “She is a good actor.
