Diana Penty shares memories of working with Deepika Padukone and Saif Ali Khan: 'They were there, cheering me on'
Diana Penty's entry into Bollywood was with the 2012 hit 'Cocktail'. Diana played one of the main roles along with Deepika Padukone and Saif Ali Khan. The actress still holds the memories of her debut movie close.
Speaking to India Today, Diana shared that even though she was new and unsure of herself, she never once felt like an outsider on the set. She remembered Deepika as a calm, reassuring presence and said that both she and Saif made a genuine effort to put her at ease.
“It was my first film, and I didn’t know how things worked on a set. I remember my first day, my first scene, and they were there, cheering me on. That support mattered a lot,” Diana recalled.
Support from Deepika Padukone and Saif Ali Khan
Diana opened up about how both her co-stars became her support during the shoot days. Whenever she was confused or forgot her lines, Deepika and Saif would step in to rehearse and reassure her. “They would say, ‘It’s okay, let’s play off each other.’ That made it so much easier for me as a first-time actor,” she explained.
Her first experience also changed how she viewed the industry’s stereotype about women not getting along. “Quite the opposite happened to me. I had the most supportive woman on my very first film, and that set a benchmark,” Diana said.

Looking ahead to 'Cocktail 2'
Meanwhile, Diana Penty's recent work is the series 'Do You Wanna Partner,' which is getting good reviews from the audience. ETimes gave the series a rating of 3.5 stars out of 5, and our review reads, "In the end, ‘Do You Wanna Partner’ delivers a satisfying experience for a wide range of viewers. The series keeps the pace brisk, with events unfolding quickly enough to hold interest from start to finish. It also captures the spirit of the NCR region effectively, though Shweta Tiwari’s character hints at untapped potential."
