Dia Mirza recently opened up about her recent eco-friendly wedding with businessman Vaibhav Rekhi. Apart from being a sustainable wedding, it was also an extremely intimate ceremony with only close friends and family.
Spilling some inside details of the event, Dia told a news portal that instead of giving out lavish gifts to their guests, they bought hand-crafted woven baskets from artisans in Meghalaya and sent everybody a plant as return gifts.
Dia also added they used locally-grown flowers for their decorations.
Elaborating further, the actress also added that most of us chose to wear something that we won’t be touching ever again on our special occasions. Dia, instead chose something she could wear again and again. The actress wore a red and gold saree at her wedding.
As far as food was concerned, the couple knew how many people that they had invited were vegetarians and non-vegetarians so they ensured they plated up accordingly and avoided food wastage.
In conclusion, she stated that Vaibhav and she were happy that they were successful in creating a sustainable event at the end of the day.
Dia and Vaibhav are expecting their first child together.
