Recently, Dia Mirza talked about her relationship with her stepdaughter, Samaira, in an interview. Dia married businessman Vaibhav Rekhi in a beautiful intimate ceremony. Her life, however, took a new turn when she married Vaibhav, bringing his daughter from his previous marriage, Samaira, into their lives. As Dia embraced her new role as a wife, she automatically stepped into the role of a stepmother to Samaira. Since their marriage, Dia has shared a warm and close bond with Samaira, though she's never called "maa" or "mumma" by her.
On Mother's Day, Dia talked to News18 Showsha, Dia revealed that her Samaira still calls her by first name instead of the more widely accepted 'maa' or 'mumma.' “She hasn’t called me maa. There is no expectation from her to call me ‘maa’, ‘mumma’ or ‘mother’. She has a mother who she calls ‘mumma’ or ‘mom’. She calls me ‘Dia,”She further added, “Thanks to her now Avyaan also calls me ‘Dia’ once in a while. He says ‘Dia mom,’ it’s too funny.”
This ultimately brings to mind the magical day of her life wherein her child, Avyaan for the first time utters "mumma". In fact Avyaan spoke his first words "tiger". But the first articulation of "mumma" is very special to Dia.
She remembered an unforgettable day when Avyaan, hugging her, pointed to the butterflies flying and fluttering around the flowering flowers on their balcony while calling her "mumma."“Oh my god, I will never forget that day. He said mumma much later. I think it was a good three months after he started to say words. It was a beautiful moment because all the flowers had started to bloom in the balcony and there were lots of butterflies visiting the flowers, and he was in my arms,” Dia recalled, cherishing the precious memory. Dia, who welcomed Avyaan in 2021, often shares heartwarming moments with her son on social media, and the love and joy in her family continue to shine brightly.
