Aditya Dhar has given fans a rare behind-the-scenes look into the making of ‘Dhurandhar’, and it’s every bit as intense as the film itself. Taking to Instagram, the director opened up about the sheer scale, risk and creativity that powered the action sequences, crediting his team for turning wild ideas into reality.
In a heartfelt note, Dhar wrote, “There’s a thin line between conviction and madness and on this film, I crossed it almost every single day.” He went on to describe pitching extreme concepts to his action team, ideas so outrageous that even he found them unbelievable while saying them aloud. Yet, every time, the response remained the same: “Okay, let’s figure it out.”
From a man being “cooked inside an industrial pressure cooker” to a character dragged through crowded streets behind a bike, Dhar revealed the kind of high-risk sequences envisioned for ‘Dhurandhar’. Another striking visual included “thirty men hanging upside down from fans,” showcasing the film’s commitment to larger-than-life action.
400 stunt performers in 'Dhurandhar'
One of the most astonishing revelations was the scale of manpower involved. Dhar shared, “We’re running out of stuntmen, I’m seeing the same faces again,” to which he was told, “There’s no one left, we’ve used almost everyone in Mumbai.” With over 400 stunt performers involved, the film’s action setup reached an unprecedented level.
Aditya Dhar's heartfelt tribute
The director credited action experts like Aejaz Gulab, Sea Young Oh, Yannick Ben, Ramazan Bulut and Vishal Tyagi for shaping the film’s intense sequences. Dhar praised their precision and ownership, noting how they brought controlled chaos to life, from massive gang wars to intricately designed explosions that balanced danger with accuracy.
With ‘Dhurandhar’ and its sequel reportedly crossing ₹3000 crore globally, the franchise has emerged as one of the biggest in Indian cinema. Its ambitious action design and technical execution have raised the bar, influencing how large-scale action films are being envisioned in Bollywood today.
What lies ahead for the 'Dhurandhar' director
With ‘Dhurandhar’ setting new benchmarks, anticipation is now building around Aditya Dhar’s next move. Whether he expands the universe further or explores a fresh concept, expectations remain sky-high, with audiences eager for more of his signature high-impact storytelling.
