Designing Geeta Basra’s bespoke trousseau

Babita Malkani celebrated a decade of her friendship with actress Geeta Basra as she designed outfits for her engagement, sangeet and Bollywood-themed wedding functions, when the latter tied the knot with cricketer Harbhajan Singh.

Thanks to the warm rapport the two women share, the process of designing and styling was fun and smooth as they chatted over fittings and coffee at Babita’s studio.The designer was involved not just in designing the outfits but in planning the entire look for Geeta including her jewellery and shoes. Geeta wanted something traditional for her sangeet-cum-engagement function so Babita designed a diffusion lehenga with an attached dupatta in a rich emerald green with pretty gold embroidery. While the engagement look was traditional, Babita ensured that Geeta looked glamourous for her Bollywood-themed party in New Delhi. The actress was seen wearing a stunning bright blush pink lehenga-gown studded with swarovskis and crystals.
