Darsheel Safary pens emotional review for Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par: ‘My heart feels fuller, softer and happier’
Aamir Khan’s latest release Sitaare Zameen Par, which hit theatres on June 20, has been receiving widespread praise for its emotional storytelling and heartwarming message. But one particular review has left fans especially moved, a heartfelt post from Taare Zameen Par star Darsheel Safary, who played the iconic Ishaan Awasthi in the original 2007 film.
In what feels like a full-circle moment, Darsheel took to Instagram Stories to share his thoughts after watching Sitaare Zameen Par, widely considered a spiritual sequel to his debut film. Describing the film as an experience that made his heart feel “fuller, softer and happier,” Darsheel praised its ability to handle a sensitive subject with grace, humour, and honesty.
‘No pity, no preaching... just presence, job and strength,’ says the original Ishaan Awasthi
In his moving post, Darsheel urged audiences to watch the film on the big screen, saying it was not meant for OTT platforms and deserved the silence and focus of a theatre experience.
“My heart feels fuller, softer and happier. The film holds up a mirror with humor, grace, and heart. No pity, no preaching. Just presence, job and strength. You have to watch this in theatres!! It won’t stream. It’s not meant to. Some stories ask for silence, a screen, and your full heart. You’ll walk in curious and walk out a little more human,” he wrote.
A nostalgic return at the premiere
Darsheel’s presence at the Mumbai premiere of Sitaare Zameen Par also stirred emotions. Now 28, the actor looked confident and dashing in a white shirt and black trousers as he posed for the cameras. For many, it was a nostalgic reminder of the emotional impact Taare Zameen Par had nearly two decades ago.
Several other stars, including Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Rekha, Vicky Kaushal, Javed Akhtar, Shabana Azmi, Jeetendra, Tushar Kapoor, Kriti Kharbanda, Sunny Kaushal, and Tiger Shroff, also attended the event.
Sitaar Zameen Par, directed by Prasanna, also stars Genelia Deshmukh.
