Danish Sood: Training with an Olympian and an international shooter helped me in my role
Danish Sood portrayed Gurbaaz Singh Kahlon, a national-level skeet rifle shooter, in Naam Namak Nishan. Sood, starring alongside Varun Sood, Helly Shah, Karan Vohra, and Roshni Wali, went to great lengths to prepare for this role, drawing inspiration from Olympian Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore and training with international shooter Shriyanka Sadangi.
Danish took his role preparation seriously, seeking motivation from Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, a renowned Indian shooter who won a silver medal at the 2004 Athens Olympics.
"His journey and achievements in the sport have been a source of immense motivation for me," Danish shared.
Danish also had hands-on training with Shriyanka Sadangi, an international-level rifle shooter. She played a crucial role in introducing him to the technicalities of the sport.
"Shriyanka introduced me to the technical aspects of shooting, including handling various firearms. She also emphasized the importance of mental discipline and focus, which are crucial in this sport," Danish added.
In preparation for embodying Gurbaaz Singh Kahlon, Sood underwent demanding military training that included physical exercises and sports, which was essential to accurately reflect the character's lifestyle and persona.
"I had to put in long hours of training for the role," he explained. "It required a certain level of fitness and a specific body language that can only come from hands-on experience. There are no shortcuts."
To further enrich his portrayal, Danish interacted with army cadets, observing their day-to-day routines and the challenges they face. This experience provided him with a deeper understanding of military discipline and dedication.
"I gained a lot of insights into the challenges they face, their day-to-day routine, and the discipline they maintain. The sheer dedication, determination, and selflessness required to be a part of the defence sector were eye-opening for me," Danish said.
The show promises a gripping narrative with a strong emphasis on authenticity, largely driven by Danish Sood's dedicated preparation for his role.
