Cute above the rest

Aditi Shah was thrilled to meet her favourite star Imran Khan as a part of a birthday surprise.
Cute above the rest
When I was told that I was going to meet Imran Khan in two hours, I did not take it seriously. When my friends dragged me to the venue, I was convinced that they were playing a bakra on me.
And then I saw him, upstairs, dressed in a black tee and jeans, talking on the phone.
My heart stopped beating for a moment. It turned out that my friends had written in to Mumbai Mirror requesting for a meeting (as a part of my birthday surprise).
After a brief wait, Imran walked in.

I am a talkative person, but when I was introduced to him, my mind was blank and I could not think of anything to say. I was really nervous. Imran must be used to seeing shocked fans, so he quickly put me at ease by asking about my studies (he was quite impressed when I told him that I was studying to be a doctor).
He started talking about his school days and how he landed a role in Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Naa. “It is very important to pursue things one likes. I was always interested in filmmaking, so I took a basic course in direction when I was in high school in the US.
But when I was approached for Jaane Tu..., I moved on to acting and now I intend to act till all my hair falls off. After that, I will move on to filmmaking,” he joked.
I was trying very hard to concentrate on what he was saying, but ended up staring at him and embarrassing him. But I recovered quickly after my initial shock as Imran started talking about his hectic schedule, “It has been a busy month as I was travelling from one city to another for Break Ke Baad promotions.

I hardly get enough time to sleep.” The actor animatedly spoke about the shooting in Mauritius and the parties after the pack-up. “I used to miss out on most of the fun as I am a very early sleeper. So by the time the party picked up, I would already be half asleep,” he said, laughing.
So what’s the best part about being an actor, I asked and after some quick thinking, he replied, “One good thing is that I get to do what I love - to act. The bad part is that I hardly get any time for myself. I had been sleeping very little in the last few weeks and also got to see very little of my mother.”
Soon it was time to go and I must have looked distressed to say goodbye to my idol, but I cheered up as Imran happily posed for some pictures with me. This is the best gift I’ve ever got.
