'Crazy Cukkad Family' gets a thumbs up from the industry

The team of Crazy Cukkad Family is upbeat with the feedback their film has received from their Bollywood colleagues post a recent screening.
No wonder then filmmaker Prakash Jha, otherwise known for his issue-based films, is pleased about having backed this Ritesh Menon-directed comedy featuring Shilpa Shukla, Swanand Kirkire, Kushal Punjabi and Siddharth Sharma. While all actors earned praise for their performances, Jha is especially impressed with Swanand.“It’s his first film as an actor and yet, his acting feels effortless. I think he’s a born actor.”

Rajkumar Hirani says, “It is a mad film with good performances by all actors, but the biggest surprise for me was Swanand. I’ve worked with him so much and yet I never realised that he’s such a fine actor.” Gauri Shinde echoes the sentiment saying, “It’s a laugh riot with funny dialogues. The entire cast is brilliant.” Sudhir Mishra states, “It’s very difficult to pull off this kind of comedy with a human touch.” Calling it “a modern film”, Saurabh Shukla says, “Ritesh has come up with a truly wonderful film.” Shantanu Moitra says, “It reminded me of Sai Paranjpye kind of movies. I love the simplicity of the film. It doesn’t look like this is Ritesh’s debut film and his comic timing is incredible.”
Admitting that he was nervously walking around the theatre prior to the screening, Swanand says, “Rajkumar Hirani was surprised with my acting skills. Gauri texted me that she is proud of me. Sudhir, Shantanu, Amit Trivedi and Shreya Ghoshal too loved the film and my work.” Crazy Cukkad Family, produced by Prakash Jha Productions, releases today.
