Lucknow based Congress leader Kush Bhargava will release a film on the infamous telecom scam on March 25. Divya Dutta, the protagonist, will have shades of both Shivani Bhatnagar and Nira Radia. Here again! Another infamous controversy has been turned into a film. A Lucknow-based Congress leader, Kush Bhargava, is set to release a film based on the recent telecom scam.
The film, Monica -The Politics Of Murder, revolves around the corporate-political nexus in the telecom sector and the protagonist Monica, played by Divya Dutta, has shades of both Shivani Bhatnagar and Nira Radia.
Producer Bhargava, who hails from a royal family has also served as the media cell chief of the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee. The timing of the film has raised eyebrows within the Congress.
However, Bhargava insists that he will release the film on the scheduled date March 25. “After you see the film you will realise that the time frame points to the period when the telecom sector was being opened up.
The Congress was not in power at that time. The film cuts across party lines and I’m hoping people will take it in that spirit. In fact we plan to hold a special screening of the film for Delhi Chief Minister Shiela Dixit on March 16.
Salman Khurshid has agreed to be present for the premier of the film in Mumbai on March 23,” he said.
Directed by Sushen Bhatnagar, the film has an ensemble cast including Ashutosh Rana, Yashpal Sharma, Kittu Gidwani.
“While this film is also about an ambitious woman who gets trapped in circumstances beyond her control and is murdered, it’s definitely not a whodunnit like No One Killed Jessica.
This is a political thriller, and it just happens to be produced by a politician,” said Sushen Bhatnagar.
While allegedly, the debutant producer, Bhargava, has had a tough time finding backers for this politically sensitive film, Anup Jalota has come on board and will present the film.
