Peter Pereira has been a well-known name in the industry. He has been a cinematographer on many films but rose to fame after working on 'Mr India' as a VFX coordinator. He passed away today and it's indeed been a sad news for the industry.
Apart from 'Mr India', Peter had worked on
Amitabh Bachchan's 'Ajooba' and Sunny Deol, Suniel Shetty starrter 'Border'. Interestingly, Peter's father also belonged to the industry but he had revealed in an interview that he never visited a film set as a child.
But since his father was inclined towards photography, Peter also did have an interest in cameras.
He got his first job at Basant Studio in Chembur owned by Homi Wadia. He worked there and did odd jobs at first, like setting up camera and other menial tasks. Peter worked as a cinematographer on many Bachchan movies like 'Toofan', 'Mard' and 'Shehenshah'.
He appeared on-screen in a special appearance in Amar Akbar Anthony. His last work was 'Bhagmati' in 2005 after films like 'Hadd Kardi Aapne' starring Govinda and Rani Mukerji and Akshay Kumar starrer 'Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi'.
While the passing away of such a talented cinematographer is indeed a loss to the industry, may his soul rest in peace.
