Christmas Exclusive! Tara Sutaria: December is a happy time in my house
Recently, Tara Sutaria shared a glimpse of Christmas preparations at her home on social media. The Marjaavaan actress, who hails from a Parsi family, says that they have been celebrating the festival in a big way for many years. She shares, “There are two festivals that we celebrate at home — one is the Zoroastrian New Year and the other is Christmas. My grandparents began the tradition of celebrating Christmas in a big way at home. So, the whole month of December is a happy time in my house. We decorate our place, put up the Christmas tree, host lunches and dinners with family and friends, sing carols and have a jolly good time.”
However, due to the pandemic, Tara’s family hasn’t hosted many gatherings this year. Instead, they are soaking in the spirit of the season in their own little way. “My grandmother lives with us, and we don’t want to take any risk. But every year, the calendar is jam-packed during this month with my school and college friends visiting each other’s home for feasts,” she says.
This year, the actress decorated the house with her twin sister Pia. She elaborates, “My sister has moved to London, but recently she came back and we had a great time decorating the house. We have a beautiful Christmas tree that mom had got from the US when I was just one year old. We decorate it with embellishments that she has collected over the years, from various parts of the world. Pia and I have also been collecting our own items to put up on the tree. Each of these pieces means something to us. Every year we have a theme, and this year it is white and silver.”
Ask her what she wishes from Santa this year, and she says, “I wish that nobody has to witness a year like 2020 ever again! It was a tough one for all of us, and I hope the New Year will be much better and brighter than what we just saw.”
