Centre to set up Uday Shankar Academy at Almora

NEW DELHI: Centre has decided to set up "Uday Shanker Academy for Dance and Music" at Almora and released a sum of Rs two crore for the initial phase of this project.
This was stated by Union Tourism Minister Jagmohan after a two-day visit to Uttaranchal.
The Centre would not only propagate Uday Shankar''s form of dance and music but also develop traditional folk dances and folk music of Uttaranchal, he said.
The state museum at Almora would be relocated within this complex, he said adding that a meditation centre on the lines of the Vivekanand Rock Memorial at Kanyakumari would be established in the complex.
Jagmohan said that the project would cost more than Rs two crore and the additional burden would be met by the Centre.
He said that a national level Hotel Management Institute would be established at Dehra Dun which would be developed through a master plan and with funding from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
