Celina Jaitly files domestic violence case against her husband Peter Haag in Mumbai court, seeks Rs 50 crore compensation and monthly maintenance amount of Rs 10 lakh
Actress Celina Jaitly has been in the news lately for filing a plea to the Delhi High Court to ask for help for her brother Major Vikrant Jaitley who has been detained in the United Arab Emirates for 14 months. Meanwhile now, in a shocking turn of events, the actress has taken a legal action against her husband, Austrian hotelier and businessman Peter Haag and accused him of domestic violence.
Approaching the court under the Domestic Violence Act, she has accused Haag of cruelty, manipulation, and physical abuse. Following her application, a Mumbai court has issued an official notice to Haag. More information on the allegations and the dates of upcoming hearings is still awaited.
Times Of India reports that the plea states that the 47-year-old mother of three “has been subjected to continuous acts of domestic violence at his hands.”
Celina is seeking monthly maintenance of Rs 10 lakh and Rs 50 crore in compensation. It also alleges that Peter has “completely blocked her access to the children, who are currently in his custody in Austria,” and requests a custody order allowing her “unhindered virtual and telephonic access to the children.”
According to the detailed application, the couple’s marriage was registered on September 18, 2010, and they have three children. Celina claims her husband gradually took control of her professional and financial life. As the application states, “After marriage, the complainant worked intermittently till she had children, after which the respondent (husband) prohibited her from working on various pretexts and robbed her of her financial independence and dignity.” The plea, filed on November 21, 2025, says Celina “is an aggrieved person as defined under Section 2(a) of the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act.”
The filing describes Peter as “a narcissistic, self-absorbed individual who demonstrates no empathy for the wife or the three children,” adding that his behaviour is “exacerbated by his short temper and alcoholic tendencies.” It further alleges financial misconduct, stating: “He has systematically decimated the persona of the complainant and has calculatedly hoodwinked her into giving him control of her assets and finances.” It also claims he “took advantage of her by pressurising her to transfer ownership of her residence in Mumbai to his name while she was undergoing severe depression after the death of her newborn child and both parents within a few months of each other.”
The complaint says the “severe emotional, physical, verbal and financial abuse” eventually became so unbearable “that she was forced to flee the parties’ home in Austria in the middle of the night and return to India, leaving behind her three children.”
It also alleges that Peter regularly used racist and insulting language, calling her his “maidservant” and saying she “looked like his maid” or that “people would mistake her for the help.” According to the plea, this “constant humiliation caused her immense mental distress and a gradual breakdown of her self-esteem.”

Apart from that, a separate civil suit is pending in the Bombay City Civil Court regarding the cancellation of a gift deed dated January 14, 2019, through which the shared home was transferred to Peter. The case is currently awaiting final hearing and disposal.
Celina and Haag married in Austria in 2011, and the two became parents to twin boys in March 2012. Their family expanded again in 2017 with the arrival of another set of twins, though tragedy struck when one of the infants passed away due to a hypoplastic heart condition.
Known for films such as ‘No Entry’, ‘Golmaal Returns’, ‘Thank You’, ‘Apna Sapna Money Money’ and ‘Money Hai Toh Honey Hai’, Celina has largely stayed out of the public spotlight in recent years, appearing in the news primarily during significant personal developments.
Her brother was associated with the MATITI Group, a company involved in consultancy, trading, and risk management. Celina has alleged that the Ministry of External Affairs has been unable to provide her family with even basic details about his “condition, legal status, or well-being” since his reported detention in September 2024. Acting on her plea, the Delhi court directed authorities to ensure the family can contact him and facilitate communication between him, Celina, and his wife.
