Cricket fans all around the world and people from the cricket fraternity received a jolt with the news of ex New Zealand batsman and captain, Martin Crowe passing away. The cricketing legend succumbed to cancer today on March 3, 2016 at the age of 53.

Crowe made his international debut for New Zealand in 1982 and went on to represent the country till 1995. He played an instrumental role in making New Zealand a force to reckon with, on the world map. He is known the most for his country's triumph in the 1992 World Cup, where they reached the Semi-Finals against all odds.

After his retirement, he continued being active in sports by being a commentator and one of the board members of a football and rugby club, which is owned by his brother Russel Crowe. Martin was also the CEO of Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Ever since the news of his death, obituary messages are doing the rounds on social media by his fans as well as celebs.
