CBI says Jiah Khan's death is a case of suicide; Rabia Khan reacts

On Monday, the CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) told the

Bombay High Court

that Jiah Khan's death is a clear case of suicide and not murder as claimed by the actress' mother Rabia Khan. The interim stay on the trial court proceedings against Sooraj Pancholi was extended till the next hearing of the HC on August 23. Rabia, who attended the hearing on Monday, was visibly disturbed with the CBI's statements. A source present at the hearing said, 'She was in town only for the hearing. The other party had raised a lot of hue and cry over her absence. Henceforth, she will try and attend every important hearing.' When contacted about her next course of action, Rabia told us, 'The CBI's version was appalling. I will not rest till the truth is out. I made it very clear that I am not here to waste mine or the court's time. If need be, I will go to the Supreme Court to get justice for my daughter. It is not monetarily feasible for me to make frequent trips to India. There are far too many discrepancies in CBI's initial version and now. If we go just by the chargesheet they have submitted, their version in court yesterday doesn't match the written word. Who is the CBI trying to fool?' Elaborating further, she said, 'The two prime evidences in a death case are the dead body and the victim's cell phone. If it was a case of suicide, how can the CBI explain injury marks on her, the blood tissues found in her nails and the prominent bruise on her arm? These should be enough to raise an alarm. Coming to the phone, the BBM evidence was deleted. The FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation) was ready to assist in retrieving the transcripts from the server. In the digital space, nothing can be deleted. This is why I was asking for the FBI intervention. Their involvement could prove to be essential in the case.' Rabia had alleged that someone had entered the flat from an open window and committed the crime, but CBI has dispelled the theory. Rabia however says, 'They claim the wall of the building is 18 ft when it is only 8 feet and 12 inches. There is only one CCTV camera on the building's front gate. They are slashing my allegation without solid evidence.' Even earlier, she had requested the HC for a Special Investigating Team. 'The HC is yet to give us a go ahead on it. We are willing to let the investigation be conducted under the court's supervision. I am not satisfied with the investigation of the CBI.' When we spoke to Prashant Patil, Sooraj's lawyer, he reiterated, 'We cannot take a stand on this case because it is between Rabia and CBI and does not involve us. It is sad because my client has a right to a free and fair trial. All we want is the process to be expedited.'
