Cat-fights are passé
Over the years, Bollywood paparazzi seem to have gone overboard with reportage on cat-fights in tinsel town and we have seen many divas who could never lie at par with their stark contemporaries.
But the younger lot of actresses are changing the norms of B-town as they somehow seem more affable than their senior counterparts. They seem to be negating the age-old phrase – ‘Two actresses can never be friends’, and even if they have had their differences, the youngsters believe in going all out to kiss and make up.

Heads turned when Deepika Padukone planted a tight kiss on competitor Anushka Sharma’s cheek after attending a Censor Board meeting, a few weeks back.
1x1 polls
They were seen bonding like a house on fire, embracing each other in public and Deepika showering praises on Anushka's film as an actor-producer. This only proves that catfights are passé. Apparently things had gone sour between them when Anushka had reportedly said about Deepika, ‘I am Kashyap's and Hirani's choice. She is Ayan's and whosoever's.’
Reports indicate that Alia Bhatt, who has had a great 2014 with hits like Highway, 2 States and Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, stuck by her one time arch-rival Parineeti Chopra in her low phase. Interestingly, it was Alia’s filmmaker father Mahesh Bhatt, who had once told Alia that Parineeti was her fiercest rival and that she should watch out. But in Pari's down phase, Alia apparently helped her deal with failure and it’s heard that she also counselled her on making the right career moves and choices. Sonam Kapoor and Jacqueline Fernandez not only share a great bond, but are also self-confessed BFFs. Both have often been seen socializing together and Jacqueline even went on to visit Sonam in the hospital when the latter was down with swine flu. And now it seems after Jacqueline, Sonam has found a new BFF in Sonakshi Sinha. The two recently walked the ramp together and their bond was also quite palpable as they posed for the shutterbugs.

Sources on the sets of Bajirao Mastani say that Priyanka and Deepika were often spotted laughing and chatting away like old friends and didn’t behave like rivals. While the two have known each other before Deepika became an actress, the camaraderie between them was seen when they appeared on KJo’s talk show together. The episode was a laugh riot and the actresses seem to have carried this bonhomie further to the sets.
Deepika and Kangana recently got involved in a small battle of words when the former dedicated her award to latter for her performance in Queen. Kangana reacted to this by saying that the actors like SRK, Big B and Priyanka wished her, but Deepika never called her. This statement led to a misunderstanding between them. However, Deepika and Kangana recently met each other privately and sorted out their differences and became good friends with each other.
Well, this is probably a first in the history of Bollywood. Kangana and Priyanka might be competitors but they decided to unite to celebrate their awards for Queen and Mary Kom by throwing a joint party together. Kangana welcomed the guests at her residence to celebrate her National Award and Priyanka joined in as ‘co-host’ of the party. The divas had earlier worked together in Madhur Bhandarkar’s Fashion (2008).
For the older generation, the maturity to deal with competition might have come with age, just as it happened with Juhi Chawla. She admitted how during her prime, she was wary of being paired with her contemporary Madhuri Dixit, and she was insecure about being compared with Madhuri, Manisha Koirala and Karisma Kapoor. ‘I was a little foolish, young and insecure,’ Juhi had said in an interview. But with time and experience, her perspective changed - a fact well testified by her decision of sharing the frame with Madhuri in their last release Gulaab Gang. Looks like the present generation believes in starting young.
