Cardinal accepts apology from Raveena Tandon, Farah Khan and Bharti Singh over Hallelujah episode

MUMBAI: Choreographer-director Farah Khan and actress Raveena Tandon met Oswald Cardinal Gracias, the head of the Catholic Church in India on Sunday and offered an "unconditional apology" for their Hallelujah remark on a TV show. Another participant Bharti Singh despatched a message expressing regret.The Cardinal reportedly took a patient listen to the entire tape and accepted their apology. He said that although people make mistakes Jesus still loves them and chooses to forgive rather than condemn. He prayed for them and blessed them.However, Thane activist Melwyn Fernandes, secretary of the Association of Concerned Catholics who disseminated photos of the meeting said, "We have not accepted any apology, we are (still) angry with the celebrities. We will fight legally in court."Last week, a police complaint had been filed against the celebrities in Amritsar and protests took place across Punjab. The case was registered under Section 295-A (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs) of the IPC.Raveena had tweeted a link to the full show thereafter and said, "Please do watch this link. I haven't said a word that can be interpreted as an insult to any religion. The three of us (Farah Khan, Bharti Singh and I) never intended to offend anyone, but in case we did, my most sincere apologies to those who were hurt."Farah had tweeted, "I'm extremely saddened that some sentiments have been inadvertently hurt by a recent episode of my show. I respect all religions, n it would never be my intention 2 disrespect any. On behalf of the entire team, Raveena Tandon, Bharti Singh, and Myself.. we do sincerely apologize."
