The magical universe of Disneyland, will soon be having its own Indian princess. Buzz is that, the musical along with the character will be helmed by filmmaker Gurinder Chadha and screenwriter Paul Mayeda Berges who had earlier weaved stories like ‘Bride and Prejudice’ and ‘Bend It Like Beckham’.
According to a US news portal, Chadha would also serve as the film’s producer and director. ‘The Nutcracker and the Four Realms’ producer Lindy Goldstein is also set to join the production team. The main details of the film is still kept under the wraps.
The project would be backed by the President of the Walt Disney Motion Picture Production, Sean Bailey. Owner of the company ‘Bend It Films’, Chadha’s films have grossed in excess of 300 million USD at the worldwide box office.
Gurinder was also nominated twice for the BAFTA Award, once for her debut film ‘Bhaji on the Beach’ and secondly for the film ‘Bend It Like Beckham’. The latter film starring Parminder Nagra turned out to be an international success, minting upto 76 million USD worldwide.
