Bollywood's biggest dance-off at Sonam Kapoor-Anand Ahuja's wedding party
It was a coup of a kind at Sonam Kapoor-Ahuja and Anand Ahuja’s wedding reception on Tuesday night, as superstars and B-Town’s Karan-Arjun — Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan — teamed up with Karan Johar, Varun Dhawan, the bride’s papa Anil Kapoor, cousins Arjun Kapoor and Ranveer Singh, and took the stage by storm.
The suburban five-star hotel in Mumbai, where the event was held, witnessed a dance-off of epic proportions as Bollywood stars let their hair down and partied the night away.
Sonam and Anand defied fashion norms as they chose rather unconventional outfits for their reception. While Sonam opted for a semi-casual Anamika Khanna lehenga in black and silver, Anand wore (believe it or not) sneakers on his Raghavendra Rathore regal bandhgala.
The guests were aptly welcomed with Swag Se Swagat and Gal Mitthi Mitthi, performed by the bride’s besties, Swara Bhasker, Masaba Gupta and Kunal Rawal, to name a few. The night’s highlight was Anil Kapoor recreating his jhakaas ‘Lakhan’ moves. Karan Johar danced enthusiastically to Prem Ratan Dhan Payo and Say Shava Shava. Ranveer showed off his infectious energy once again as he held and twirled Anand and then teamed up with SRK for Koi Mil Gaya and his famous Khalibali number from Padmaavat.
What brought the house down was Salman Khan and Shah Rukh singing Karan Arjun’s title track for Sonam’s mother, Sunita Kapoor. The other guests included Rishi and Neetu Kapoor, Madhuri Dixit-Nene and husband Sriram Nene, Juhi Chawla and Jay Mehta, and Vidya Balan and Siddharth Roy Kapur. Varun, who is fiercely private about his love life and long-time girlfriend Natasha Dalal, made a public appearance with her for the event. It was her birthday, too and we guess, Varun went all out to make the day special for her.
The photo op of the day, however, was an emotional one for all as Boney Kapoor and his children — Arjun, Anshula, Janhvi and Khushi — posed for a picture, together, for the first time.
