Pinga - Bajirao Mastani
Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone’s grand lavani piece in their forthcoming film is a visual treat.
1x1 polls
It is quintessentially Sanjay Leela Bhansali and boasts of a setup up with diyas and costume coordinated leading ladies in traditional saris. The duo is seen singing for the love of Bajirao (Ranveer Singh).
Choreographer Remo D’souza says, “We knew that coming after Dola Re, we would be faced with comparisons. Sanjay sir gave me the leeway to choreograph it the way I wanted to. We didn’t want it to look like anything in the past. Though Mastani is half-Persian, she was a performer, so her steps are elegant. Priyanka’s steps are spontaneous and energetic.”
Dola Re - Devdas

Madhuri Dixit and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan put up a stellar show bedecked in a stunning Bengali avatar – with the traditional white and red sari, complete with red
bindis and the beautiful touch of aaltaa on the feet and palms. Matching steps in a powerful jugalbandi, the duo laced their moves with perfect flair and grace.
Choreographer, Saroj Khan says, “In a dance face-off, it is a choreographer’s call what steps will suit which actor. It is difficult to pull off a dance piece of this order. Since there are two celebrities, it’s important to maintain balance and ensure one person doesn’t hog the limelight. I couldn’t be partial to either of them.”
Girls like to Swing - Dil Dhadakne Do

This number is not much of a face-off but teams up the film’s leading ladies — Anushka Sharma and Priyanka Chopra. They make a sizzling pair as they flaunt their hip-swinging moves. As the jazz beats take centre stage, PC and Anushka put their warm camaraderie on the forefront. One glimpse at the song and it is hard to miss how beautifully the two complement each other.
Choreographer Bosco Martis says, “This song was in the Lindy hop space. When PC makes an entry, she plays a boy to Anushka. Director Zoya Akhtar didn’t want it to look overtly sexy and the mood of the song is very light. It is neither an item number nor a typical face-off that ideally includes more bantering. It is a playful act. PC and Anushka added their magic to it and they visibly enjoyed each other’s company. They looked like two women who don’t need a man to have fun.”
Dance of Envy - Dil To Pagal Hai

Karisma Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit’s epic face-off was a dance piece, where both of them battle it out to win appreciation from the man they love, Rahul (Shah Rukh Khan).
Choreographer Shiamak Davar says, “There was this notion that Madhuri and Karisma have an underlying tension. When I got to know Madhuri is in the film, I knew I had to do it as it is such a treat to watch her dance. She’s a trained dancer with a strong classical background. On the other hand, Karisma was like fire! So it was a great combination of Madhuri’s grace and Karisma’s fiery energy.”
Other songs
Badi Mushkil - Lajja
Most kids of this generation have at some point or other tripped while imitating the steps of this song. While Madhuri Dixit’s prowess over dance takes the spotlight, Manisha Koirala catches up with her own zest. This song indeed packs a punch and Ganesh Acharya’s skillful steps brings out the fun.
Aajao Naagraja - Maqsad
This song from the 1984 Jeetendra-Rajesh Khanna starrer is a real gem, with Jaya Prada and Sridevi matching steps. They used their classical dance training to give this song its invincible quality.
