Birthday special! Akshaye Khanna: A Legacy of Diverse Roles!

Today marks the birthday of Bollywood's versatile actor, Akshaye Khanna! Throughout his career, Khanna has captivated audiences with his ability to seamlessly transition between captivating characters. From the intensity of a police officer in Drishyam 2 to the comedic flair in Hungama, Khanna has proven his range as a truly gifted performer. Let's take a closer look at some of his most memorable roles .

Drishyam 2

In Drishyam 2, Akshaye Khanna played IG Tarun Ahlawat, a police officer investigating the old case of the Salgaonkars. Some sources say this role was originally conceived as a smaller part, but the director convinced Khanna to take it after fleshing out the character more [director wanted to explore the investigator role more in the Hindi version]. This turned out to be a good decision, as Khanna's performance was praised by critics.

Section 375

In this movie, Akshaye Khanna played the role of Advocate Tarun Saluja in the movie Section 375. He was the defense barrister representing the accused, a celebrated filmmaker Rohan Khurana, who was charged with rape by a junior costume designer [Richa Chadha, who played the public prosecutor, argued for the other side].

Hungama

The actor showcased his comedic prowess with finesse, triumphing in a rib-tickling cinematic gem. In this uproarious film, Akshaye portrays the character of Jeetu, who mistakenly falls for Anjali (played by Rimi Sen), believing her to be the daughter of businessman Radhe Shyam Tiwari. As the plot unfolds, a cascade of bewildering events ensues, leading Radhe Shyam to erroneously conclude that he himself is infatuated with his own wife, also named Anjali. This zany narrative also features stellar performances by Paresh Rawal and Aftab Shivdasani.

Humraaz

With seamless ease, the actor embraced the persona of a suave antagonist in this gripping thriller directed by Abbas-Mustan, alongside Ameesha Patel and Bobby Deol. Portraying the character of the ambitious Karan, he orchestrates a cunning scheme wherein he persuades his girlfriend Priya to marry the wealthy Raj, intending to manipulate her into divorcing him later to claim his fortune. However, the intricate plan takes an unexpected turn as Priya unexpectedly develops genuine feelings for her husband, leading to her separation from Karan. Left consumed by fury and driven by vengeance, Karan's character spirals into a relentless pursuit for retribution.

Dil Chahta Hai

In this poignant coming-of-age narrative directed by Farhan Akhtar, Akshaye takes on the role of Siddharth, a reserved individual who serves as the voice of reason amidst the lively company of his friends Akash (played by Aamir Khan) and Sameer (portrayed by Saif Ali Khan). As Siddharth finds himself enamored with the mature Tara Jaiswal, tensions arise between him and Akash, leading to a rift that separates the two for several years. The film, featuring a stellar cast including Preity Zinta, Sonali Kulkarni, and Dimple Kapadia, has garnered a dedicated following over the years, attaining cult status within the realm of cinema.
