Big B's Holi trinity

If Holi means dancing without a break to Bollywood numbers, then surely, the moves come from Amitabh Bachchan.
For the most popular Holi songs of all times in Bollywood are actually numbers featuring Big B.
The most popular of them all, of course, is Rang Barse from Silsila. The song is revered as a Holi anthem in India, especially northern India. Folks dance wildly to the number, while Bachchan croons the lyrics with rustic gusto, which incidentally were penned by his father Harivanshrai Bachchan.
While Silsila and the immensely popular number have been part of our Holi celebrations since 1981, another Holi number from Bachchan’s film Baghban, Holi Khele Raghubeera... Awadh Mein Holi Khele Raghubeera was added to the list in 2003. In the scene, Bachchan has tried to recreate the magic of his earlier song, but does not reach that crescendo. However, even this number with yesteryears’ dream girl Hema Malini can make one groove. Even the immensely popular Holi song from Sholay, Holi Ke Din Dil Mil Jaate Hain, has Bachchan somewhere in the background and it culminates into him and Dharmendra meeting Gabbar Singh.
The last Holi song that was part of a Bollywood flick is also from an Amitabh Bachchan starrer, Waqt – Race Against Time, but it does not star him. Instead, the lead pair of the film, Akshay Kumar and Priyanka Chopra, are seen enjoying the spirit of the festival while dancing to the lyrics Do Me A favour...Let’s Play Holi.
