Some of Big B’s jibes at the media had to be edited out from a Koffee With Karan episode
Amitabh Bachchan’s deadliest statement of the year has been spliced out from the Koffee With Karan episode that was telecast last night.
The actor, who spoke at length on his 40-year-old love-hate relationship with the media, got especially catty. Sample this: when asked which was the most overexposed couple Bachchan promptly said “Barkha Dutt and Vir Sanghvi are the most overexposed couple of the year.’’
Audiences though did not get to hear these famous words because they were edited out of the episode.
No sooner did the promos go out than the producers started getting frantic calls from interested parties for this sound byte. This probably forced them to pull it out.
Incidentally, when KJo asked Bachchan about the worst criticism that he has heard about himself, Big B came up with some interesting answers.
“Devyani Chaubal saw Muqaddar Ka Sikandar and wrote ‘his sun is setting, he’s over’...Pritish Nandy wrote an article on me and titled it ‘Finished’.
That article really hurt me. Once, when I met Pritish, I had that article with me. He asked me why I was carrying it around. I said, ‘This is my inspiration to prove you wrong.’”
