Bhumika blooms post marriage

Three hit films down South, a Filmfare nomination this year and now a production house of her own - marriage seems to have done wonders for Bhumika Chawla.
Bhumika blooms post marriage
She has been married for almost nine months, and her innocent face and serene countenance tattle that Bhumika Chawla's enjoying the marital life with her husband Bharat Thakur.
Her ardent fans, who liked the fresh, vivacious looks of the actress, have a grouse though. They have often wondered as to where the pretty, young lady had vanished, after wowing them in films like Tere Naam and Run.
1x1 polls
TOI discovers that the lady has quite a few aces up her sleeves.
Southwards ho!
Ask her where had she vanished after her marriage and Bhumika says in a benign manner, I was busy doing quite a few films down south. In the past eight months, my three Telugu films have been released and another one is ready for release.
Then, three more Telugu and Tamil films are lined up, one after the other. I was also nominated recently for Filmfare (South) in the Best Actress category. Does that mean the young lady has said boo to Bollywood? Not one to mince her words, Bhumika says, I havent really bid adieu to Bollywood. Its just that I have been very selective. I am not exactly getting the films from Aditya Chopra or Karan Johar. But then, even I havent approached them. In fact, After Gandhi My Father, I havent done any Hindi film. I wasnt happy with the kind of projects I was getting. South Indian films on the other hand, give you lots of opportunities to explore your talent.

Donning a new role
But then, the buzz is that shes expanding her horizons in more ways than one, and is also wearing the mantle of a businesswoman? To this she says, Yes, I and Bharat have set up a production house jointly. I provide creative inputs only, but Bharat takes care of the intricacies and complexities of business.
Not many know that despite a hectic work schedule, Bhumika loves to serve tea to her guests and potters around the kitchen. The lady says with a laugh, Since my dad was in the Army, I am used to serving the guests myself. Thats one thing I really like to do. Cooking makes me happy.
And hows the mush scene between the newlyweds? Blushing like a schoolgirl, Bhumika says, Lifes beautiful. Both of us try to build on the positive aspects and avoid all thats negative in life.
Tell her that she sounds almost as philosophical as her husband whos a lifestyle guru and Bhumika laughs aloud and says, But then, its only natural. Firstly, because hes my husband and secondly because we understand each other perfectly. And when are these lovebirds planning a family? Hmmm. Hopefully, soon, says Bhumika and signs off.
