‘Saand Ki Aankh’, featuring
Bhumi Pednekar and
Taapsee Pannu, is one of the most awaited films of this year. The movie, directed by Tushar Hiranandani, is being produced by
Anurag Kashyap.
The story is based on the life story of Chandro and Prakashi Tomar. The siblings, who belong to Uttar Pradesh, are considered to be India’s oldest sharpshooters. Taapsee and Bhumi will be seen playing the sisters, who took up the sport in fifties.
Bhumi, who was last seen in ‘Sonchiriya’ with
Sushant Singh Rajput, has now posted a pic of hers from the set of ‘Saand Ki Aankh’. Here, take a look at it:
Interestingly, Bhumi has always played strong, small-town women in most of her films, including ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’, ‘Shubh Mangal Savadhan’ or ‘Dum Lagake Haisha’. So, is she a feminist, too? In an earlier interview with BT, the actress had answered this question, saying, “I’m a feminist, but not the bra-burning type. I am not a feminazi. I love men and I believe in equality. I understand that we cannot exist without each other, but I want men to give women the same kind of unconditional respect that they get from us. I’ve seen evolved men right at my home and so, I don’t want to bash up boys randomly. But yes, there is a large section of society, which is still stuck with the old mentality. I hope that films help to change it. The good part is that youngsters are becoming aware that it’s not okay to follow old norms blindly.”
