Being a Kapoor or Khan wouldn't have helped: Jimmy

Bollywood actor Jimmy Shergill on his unusual films, taking life easy and more
Being a Kapoor or Khan wouldn't have helped: Jimmy
Bruised but not beaten, seemed to be the spirit that described Bollywood actor Jimmy Shergill when he landed in Ahmedabad recently.
A tad jaded Jimmy was in town to promote his upcoming flick. Jimmy says, “I am a little tired because of all the travelling. I am undergoing acupressure as I have hurt my neck, which explains these small bandages on my fingers.”
New Avatar
There are films where I have had four to five prominent dialogues but I haven’t been satisfied.
1x1 polls
In my current film, things are completely different. Steamy scenes aren’t new for me. These shots are created as they have a meaning to it — and not for masala.
Sach ‘much’
I had a moustache some years back and now I have it after Yahaan. I am not following the trend because most of the Bollywood actors have it today. This one is much different than what others have.
Long Innings
I haven’t worked in various genres intentionally — I just go with the flow. I have had a good time working in all the films I have done so far. I am known for doing unusual films and if my current film clicks, I will only do unusual films. A Khan or Kapoor surname wouldn’t have made any difference to my career. The way my career has shaped up today is the way I have planned it. I do only that kind of work that appeals to me. I don’t think much about the films that haven’t done well. You do feel bad when a film flops, but as we work constantly our mind gets occupied and we have a next project to fall on. I will be busy with Dangerous Ishq, Neeraj Pandey’s untitled and Anand Rai’s next and an untitled Punjabi film. Multi-starrer or a solo film don’t really matter. I follow my heart. A lot depends on the script. I did Munna Bhai MBBS and
Lage Raho Munna Bhai which were multi-starrers yet my role left an impact.
Behind The Camera
I am discussing and writing scripts. I have produced a Punjabi film and my next is Taur Mitran Di with Rannvijay Singh. I am a laid back guy and I take life as it comes. When I have time for myself I go to my friend’s office and discuss technology, gadgets and films. I like to chat on different subjects and gain knowledge on various things.
Family Affairs
My wife used to work with her dad who was into construction business before marriage but then she became a homemaker. She isn’t comfortable coming to the sets with me. She rather finds it boring. My son enjoys watching me on the sets, especially when I do action scenes. He actually records it on his own camera. He is a cricket buff and one would always get to see him with a bat.
