Amitji was a fine actor from Day One. I still remember how his entry on the sets would bring a smile on everyone’s face. Even when he was comparatively new to the industry, the cast and crew would wait for him. He would talk to everyone and everyone liked him. Sometimes he was humourous and childlike.On other occasions, like before giving a shot, he would turn so serious that people used to get scared going near him.
Over the years, Amitji has evolved — both as an actor and as a human being. A thorough professional, it is his sincerity, his dedication towards the art and his continuous urge to reinvent himself that have made him stand out in the crowd. An actor of his calibre is hard to find in our country. He has his head and heart in the right place.
Amitabh Bachchan is one actor who has brought respectability to the fraternity equally in India and abroad. Pehle log bolte the, arrey yeh toh sirf actors hain! Now the scenario has changed. Amitji has added dignity to our profession. Wherever he goes, people respect him… and other actors as well.
I have worked with him in many films like Sholay, Trishul, Naseeb, Satte Pe Satta, Desh Premee, Baghban, Baabul and more recent Aarakshan. Never have I seen him coming late to the sets. The way he still conducts himself or behaves with others around him is commendable.
May Amitji continue with his good work! I wish him a very happy birthday. I feel the new breed of actors can actually learn a lot from him.
