'Bawaal': Nitesh Tiwari talks about audience response to film's Holocaust imagery; reveals changes he made in the script after release of 'Sardar Udham'

Trailer of Nitesh Tiwari's upcoming film, 'Bawaal' has got the audience talking about the use of Holocaust imagery in the romantic drama. The director has now lent an explanation about the same.
According to the filmmaker, they have shown only two shots of the Holocaust in the trailer. They have not revealed what has happened before that or what’s going to happen after that and what is the context of it all.They have done so because they don’t want it to be a spoilsport for the film. Tiwari also stated that there is a reason why everything is happening in the film and it is pretty meaningful.

Elaborating further, he added that it sometimes boils down to the value system that you have made for yourself. According to him, if one looks at the kind of films he has been a part of, that should also tell them and give them some reassurance that this would also have been handled with utmost care.

Nitesh also went on to reveal that in one of the earlier drafts of the film's scripts, there was a reference to Jallianwala Bagh. He removed it after Vicky Kaushal starrer 'Sardar Udham' released as it no longer remained fresh.
Bawaal, produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, stars Janhvi Kapoor and Varun Dhawan. The film will be premiering on an OTT platform on July 21, 2023.
