According to reports, Fawad Khan was to be signed for the film, after he was seen wooing the audiences with his chemistry with Sonam in ‘

’ (2014). But the Pakistani actor had an untimely exit from Bollywood amid political tension between the nations. Thereafter, the film was shelved.

Being a female-driven project produced by Sonam, who is reportedly starring in the film, ‘Battle Of Bittora’ poses the risk of side-lining the male lead. Stating the same was a source, who was quoted by a news publication. “The ‘Battle Of Bittora’ is again a heroine-driven project. With Sonam as a producer, most, if not all, leading men would feel they would be side-lined,” said the source.

Earlier, during an interview with Bombay Times, Sonam has voiced her concern about how people perceive female-centric films. “Chick flick is a label in which all the films about women are being put into. We don’t have genres for a film with female leads. There are genres like action, comedy and drama for a film with male leads, but when there are females in the film, it is immediately called a chick flick, overlooking its real genre,” she had said.

Now, only time will tell when this battle to find a co-star would end for the ‘Battle Of Bittora’ to even begin.
