Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray, who was fighting with death for past few days passed away at his residence today afternoon.
In an exclusive conversation with TOI, film-maker Madhur Bhandarkar recalls his fond memories with the legendary leader.
“I went to meet Bal saheb on Thursday, but couldn’t meet him. So, asked about his health to Uddhav Thackeray. I remember meeting Bal Thackeray in July this year when he was admitted in Lilavati hospital.

He was absolutely in his one-liners. He had a great sense of humour,” said Madhur.
On being asked about his conversation with Bal Thackeray, he said, “We spoke for some time and he used believe in film makers. He was lover of arts. He used to be updated about everything in the country.”
“He used to tell me that how he appreciated my work. In fact, he told me that Chandni Bar was his favourite movie. He was very encouraging person,” concluded the director.
