Badshah reveals the story behind ‘Saturday Saturday’ being featured in Varun Dhawan-Alia Bhatt's 'Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania'
Badshah, the popular Indian rapper and music producer, has had an impressive journey in the music industry. Known for his hit songs like "Kala Chashma", “Garmi”, “The Breakup Song” and "Saturday Saturday," the singer recently shared his philosophy on seeking work opportunities. He believes that one's talent should shine without the need for pulling strings. In a recent interview with The Lallantop, he recalled a pivotal moment in his career when Karan Johar's Dharma Productions approached him for the rights to his hit song "Saturday Saturday" for the film Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania. "I don't think one should reach out for work, people should approach you. Do your work so well that you never need to go to anybody for opportunities. Put everything you have into your work. Make it the best, leave no stone unturned," he said. The story of how "Saturday Saturday" ended up in Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania is an interesting one too. Badshah revealed that the director, Shashank Khaitan, and the film's star, Varun Dhawan, happened to hear the song in a club in Chandigarh and decided to use it for the film. They even tried to create their own version of the song before approaching Badshah. When Dharma Productions reached out to Badshah, he made an interesting request.
"Someone from Dharma reached out and said that they want the song. I said, 'Cool, you can have it'. They said, 'Okay, come to Mumbai'. And I said, 'Suno, agar tumhe chahiye toh tum Chandigarh aao (Listen, if you want the song, you come to Chandigarh)'. And they actually came to Chandigarh. Of course, I went to Mumbai later."This encounter marked the beginning of Badshah's creative partnership with Dharma Productions. However, it wasn't until much later that he met Karan Johar, the producer behind the production house. Badshah also revealed that Karan offered him acting roles in Lust Stories and Good Newwz, which eventually went to Vicky Kaushal and Diljit Dosanjh respectively.Badshah's songs have appeared in several Dharma Productions films, including Kapoor & Sons, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, Badrinath Ki Dulhania, Good Newwz, and Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania. He also made an appearance on Karan Johar's popular talk show, Koffee with Karan, alongside Diljit Dosanjh.
