The filmmaker also elaborated how the ‘Baahubali’ franchise has been universally accepted. “‘
Baahubali 2 – The Conclusion’ is the most anticipated film in the country. It’s a proud moment for me. It’s a pan-India film. Full credit to Rajamouli sir, he’s made a universal film. It is meant for single-screens and multiplexes both. It is destined for a historic run at the box-office,” said Karan.
Staying true to his witty nature, Karan even added how they didn’t have to work hard to get an open window for the release. He said that the humongous success of its first installment ensured that ‘Baahubali 2 – The Conclusion’ gets a solo release, with no film willing to take the risk of clashing with the magnum opus.

When asked if Bollywood will ever be able to make a grand film like this, KJo said, “Hindi filmmakers can also make a film like ‘Baahubali’, it’s just we haven’t done it yet. There are many young directors in my company itself who have been inspired by the film.”
A volley of questions was also thrown at the film’s director SS Rajamouli. When probed if the audience’s feedback to the first film led them to make any changes in the second installment, he replied, “The two films aren’t separate parts. It’s just a single story split into two parts. After the success of the first part, we made changes in the action sequences. We elaborated them. We put additional effort for VFX this time.”
Rajamouli also stated that ‘Baahubali: The Beginning’ will be re-released a week or two before the new film hits the theatres. This would give the viewers a chance to refresh their memories or provide an opportunity to those who haven’t yet seen the earlier film.
With the great legacy that both the films have already created in pop-culture, Rajamouli said that he’s not an unselfish director. “The world of Baahubali will go on, maybe in the form of comics, virtual reality and so on.”
Watch: Fans go wild as ‘Baahubali 2 – The Conclusion’ trailer is screened in theatreOn being asked about the first film’s collections and how much money the makers are targeting to collect this time around, Shobu Yarlagadda said that the first film didn’t make any money for them. To which Karan remarked cheekily that he did make money since “presenters always do.”
“The cumulative budget of the two films put together is around 400 crores. We are sure that we will make money with the second installment,” added Shobu Yarlagadda.
Rajamouli also addressed the controversy around the trailer’s leak, saying, “Online leak and piracy are different issues. Piracy happens when someone captures footage from the theatre and makes money out of it. Leaking is someone just posting footage from the theatre for the fun of it. The trailer that was supposed to be uploaded as “Private” turned into “Public” on Facebook. It was a glitch. That caused us to release the trailer earlier than scheduled.”
Of course, the evening wouldn’t end without a question about Karan’s twins. The newly-turned father gave a short reply, saying, “I am doing well and the babies are fine too.”
The best was saved for the last. The highlight of the event was when the crew of ‘Baahubali 2 – The Conclusion’ gifted the Kattappa sword to Karan, as a mark of their appreciation. The filmmaker was evidently touched by the gesture and joked, “Now I know what my children will inherit, besides my equity.”
