Hawaizaada brings forth the inspiring story of the man who is believed to have flown the first unmanned aircraft, eight years before the Wright Brothers. This is director Vibhu Puri and Ayushmann Khurrana’s tribute to the Indian unsung hero and celebrates the spirit of ‘Made In India’. Ayushmann, who plays Shivi, says, “In the early 19th century, if somebody would have said that man can fly, people would’ve called him crazy.
But Talpade built an aircraft using The Vedas. This role was also challenging since I’m playing a Maharashtrian guy for the first time.”

Mithun Chakraborty as Shastry, Shivi’s mentor and
Pallavi Sharda as Sitara.
Calling it a work of fiction that is inspired by an incident that occurred in history, Puri says, “As soon as I read about him, it was as if he was asking me to tell his story to the world. I met engineers, scientists and even spoke to Vedic experts as part of my research.”
Kamlesh Bhanushali, who has produced the film along with Rajesh Banga and Vishal Gurnani, says, “Puri is one of the finest talents and we’re proud to be associated with this film.” Adds producer Sanjeev Lamba, “This story reflects the never-say-die spirit of a forgotten Indian.”
Hawaizaada, produced by Reliance Entertainment, Trilogic Digital Media Limited and Film Farmers Motion Picture Company, releases January 30.
