Ayushmann Khurrana shares moving poem ‘Kaash Main Bhi Ladka Hoti’ on Kolkata rape-murder

Bollywood actor Ayushmann Khurrana, renowned for addressing social issues through art and film, has once again touched hearts with his latest heart-wrenching poem. Titled "Kaash Main Bhi Ladka Hoti", the poem is believed to be a response to the brutal Kolkata rape-murder case that sent shockwaves throughout the nation.

Taking to his social media handle, Ayushmann, who was one of the first celebs to stand in solidarity with the protestors, shared his narration of a poem. The clip has prompted an emotional responses from netizens across various social media platforms.

The verses poignantly highlight the gender inequalities in society by imagining a world where the poet wishes she could experience the freedoms typically afforded to men.

The Hindi poem reads: "Kaash main bhi ladka hoti, Main bhi bina kundi lagakar soti. Kaash main bhi ladka hoti, Jhalli bhankar daudti udti.
Saari raat doston ke saath phirti. Kaash main bhi ladka hoti. Kehte suna hai sabko ki ladki ko padhao, likhao, sashakt banao. Aur jab padh likhkar doctor banti, Meri maa na khoti uski aankhon ka moto. Kaash main bhi ladka hoti."

The poem roughly translates to, "I wish I were a boy too, I would sleep without locking the door. I wish I were a boy too, I would run wild and carefree. I would roam all night with my friends. I wish I were a boy too.
I’ve heard everyone say, educate girls, make them strong. But when my mother became a doctor, She didn’t lose the motto in her eyes. I wish I were a boy too."
