Ayushmann Khurrana: I hope this year I receive the Best Actress award

Ayushmann Khurrana takes ahead his act as Pooja, that presented him as a woman in the Dream Girl franchise, with the film's brand new instalment. The actor shares that he's put in a lot of effort to play the gender bender role and hopes to win an award for his performance in the Raaj Shaandilyaa directorial.


He said, "I lost some weight and put on my garb to become Pooja. Also, I did method acting as I wore female perfume to get into my character. I used to take it from my make up artiste or manager. I wanted to be as beautiful as Ananya (Panday, co-star), she was my competition. Iss baar mein chahta hoon ki mujhe best actress ka award mile. After doing this film meri aurton ke prati respect bad gayi hai."


Ask him about his inspiration for the transformation and he shared, "I enjoyed Kamal Haasan in Chachi 420 or Govinda in Aunty No.1. A lot of actors have done this, including Kishore Kumar ji. So actors have gotten an opportunity in every decade to play characters like these. I'm glad I got it too with this film, which says a lot in a light hearted, fun way."






When asked about acceptance of subjects like gender fluidity or stereotypes by today's audience, like a part of Ranveer Singh's performance in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani, Ayushmann said, "I'm glad that Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani is doing well. They've set a good ground to address toxic masculinity because our film is going to take it to the next level. It's great fun, good to see people accepting these kind of films on social causes or they try to say something about breaking stereotypes. It's not just the messaging in the film, it's more fun. It has a lot of comedy."
