National award-winning filmmaker Rima Das has earned a prestigious nomination as Best Director for her film Tora's Husband at the Asia Pacific Screen Awards (APSA) 2023. In addition to her nomination, Rima Das has assumed a vital role as a jury member for the 2023 APSA Youth, Animation, and Documentary categories. Tora's Husband, had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival and the film has resonated deeply with audiences, serving as a reflective mirror to society. Post the premiere, the film had a theatrical release across India and captivated audiences in Assam and major metropolitan cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, and Hyderabad. Esteemed industry figures, including R. Balki, Amit Masurkar, Gauri Shinde, Rajshri Deshpande, and Astha Tiku, attended a recent screening and showered praise upon the film.



Rima Das, a two-time National Award-winning filmmaker, is renowned for her ability to tell indigenous and authentic stories that explore intricate relationships, self-discovery, and the human experience in natural settings. Her previous films, Village Rockstars and Bulbul Can Sing, both premiered at TIFF and received acclaim at over 120 prestigious film festivals worldwide, accumulating more than 70 awards. Village Rockstars was India's Official Entry to the 2019 Academy Awards. Notably, Rima Das has served as a writer, director, producer, cinematographer, and editor for her projects. "I am honoured to be part of the esteemed APSA Youth, Animation, Documentary International jury and look forward to watching the best of Asian films.
