Athiya Shetty gets trolled for using Lata Mangeshkar's picture while paying tribute to Asha Bhosle: 'Can someone tell her?'

Asha Bhosle passed away at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital due to multi-organ failure. She was admitted to the hospital on Saturday night and her granddaughter Zanai Bhosle shared that she was admitted due to chest infection and is undergoing treatment. However, on Sunday, the veteran singer's son Anand Bhosle confirmed her demise. As celebs began to pour tributes for Asha Bhosle, Athiya Shetty landed in controversy.

The actress mistakenly shared a black-and-white photo of Lata Mangeshkar on her Instagram Stories along with a folded hands emoji. Although she later deleted the post, screenshots quickly surfaced on X and Reddit, triggering widespread backlash.

A user wrote, "Can someone tell Athiya that Lata ji died years ago and it’s her sister Asha who died today?" Another one said, "I was like wait her sister died today why is she posting about the late sister������"

Several users criticised her for the mix-up. One netizen wrote, "Koi itna bada gawar kaisa ho sakta hai? Yeh industry mein pale bade hain aur inko pata nahi Asha ji kaisi dikhti hain aur Lata ji", while another added, "Athiya Shetty posted Lata Mangeshkar's photo instead of Asha Bhosle's in her Insta Story and later deleted it after facing backlash. Embarassing for a person who grew up in Bollywood."





Some users also came to her defence. Someone wrote, "I think this was a human error that made by her but she was really want give her tribute I think . She is pure hearted person." Another person said, "Asha Ji might look like this in her younger days, after all they were sisters …"

Netizens also tagged Suniel Shetty and wrote, "PLEASE."

Asha Bhosle’s last rites will be held at Shivaji Park on Monday, April 13, at 4 pm. Her son Anand Bhosle also shared that fans and well-wishers can pay their last respects at her residence in Lower Parel from 11 am on Monday. "My mother Asha Bhosle has passed away today.
