asoka, sivan's third feature film after 1998's acclaimed the terrorist and malli (1999), finds the cinematographer-turned-director working on his largest project to date. the film stars shah rukh khan, kareena kapoor, hrishtaa bhatt, danny denzongpa and rahul dev in the tale of the third century bc mauryan dynasty's greatest emperor. the music has been composed by anu malik. mira nair's monsoon wedding stars naseeruddin shah, vasundhara das and lillete dubey in a tale celebrating various aspects of love in fiveintersecting stories set during a long wedding ceremony in delhi.
