Ashutosh Rana reveals Renuka Shahane gifted him a car because he used to travel in local trains and taxis

Actor Ashutosh Rana recalled how Renuka Shahane, his then-girlfriend and now-wife gifted him his first car. Recently Ashutosh Rana opened up about how he used to travel to movie premieres in local trains and taxis. In an interview with Mashable, Ashutosh shared that though he is a motorhead, he avoided buying cars, even when he was earning well, as he wanted to remain grounded.

Ashutosh recalled that for the premiere of his film ‘Dushman’, he travelled in a local train and later took a taxi to the venue, as he followed his guru’s advice. His guru had told him that he wouldn’t become less of a star if he didn’t own a car. Though ‘Dushman’ was a breakout film for Ashutosh he kept it simple. The film had Sanjay Dutt, Kajol, and Ashutosh in the lead roles.

When the film got nominated for a prestigious award, he asked his guru if he should buy the car now, as the award night was going to be huge. And his guru asked, “If you go by cycle, will they not give you an award?” However, a week before the event, the guru called him and asked what is the biggest car today, and Ashutosh replied ‘Honda City’. The guru advised him to buy it, however, much to his surprise, his girlfriend Renuka Shahane gifted him the car.

Ashutosh Rana walked memory lane and reminisced that he was filming for ‘Sangharsha’, and Renuka visited him on the sets in the car. He also recalled giving her a Lancer later. “We both gifted cars to each other,” he recalled.

The ‘Dushman’ actor also reminisced about travelling across India by road in his car.


On the work front, Ashutosh Rana’s recent outing was ‘Fighter’.
