Aseem ‘Cop’ies his act

After playing underworld dons and goons in most of this films, Aseem Merchant would now be seen in a uniform in Sangeeth Sivan’s next film Bus Stop where he plays an cop.
To get into the skin of the character, Aseem decided to study the subtle nuances of cops without taking them into confidence. He says, “This is because once you tell them that you are studying them for a film or a role and take permissions et al.they might get on their guard and put their best foot forward. But in police stations the actual scenario is way too different.”
So every morning, he would pick one cop station, take a newspaper, land up there and sit on the bench observing the cops and would tell them that he was waiting for someone if questioned about what he was doing there. Finally, when he was convinced that he had done enough research on the mannerisms, behaviour and conduct of the cops, he told his director he was ready for the shoot!
