actor Arvind Trivedi

has passed away in Mumbai on Tuesday night. He was 82. When ETimes contacted his nephew, Kaustubh Trivedi, he confirmed the unfortunate news and said, "He was not keeping well for quite some time, but today he suffered a heart attack and that led to multi organ failure.'' The last rites of the actor will take place at Dahanukarwadi crematorium, Kandivali West, in Mumbai on Wednesday morning.

Apart from playing one of the most iconic characters on Indian television, Ravan in Ramanand Sagar's 'Ramayan',

Trivedi

had also played a key role in the cult TV show 'Vikram Aur Betaal'.

Not just that, Trivedi had a prolific career spanning more than three decades in

Gujarati

cinema. The film 'Desh Re Joya Dada Pardesh Joya' remains one of the most popular Gujarati films of all time. Trivedi's brother Upendra Trivedi was also a celebrated name in Gujarati cinema.

He had also been a Member of Parliament from 1991 to 1996. For a brief time between 2002 and 2003, he had also served as an acting chairman for the Central Board for Film Certification (CBFC).

Filmmaker K Amar

who also confirmed the news to ETimes had worked with Trivedi on a film. He said, "He was a very good human being and had a great sense of humour. He acted in Gujarati film 'Maatema Bija Vagdana Vaa', which was probably one of his last films.''
