Talking to a news portal, he reportedly said that he enjoys doing good films and that the genre doesn't matter to him. According to him, comedies are made more than other genres purely for business reasons, and he has done a lot of them. With Durgamati, he stated that it felt good to get out of the comic space to do something different and keep the actor in him alive.

. It's only when the camera starts rolling that he does what his take requires. Arshad also added that with this film, he was doing something that he doesn’t get to do often. For him, it was not the stereotypical role again.

‘Durgamati’ also starred Bhumi Pednekar and Karan Kapadia in lead roles. The film received mixed reviews from the audience and the critic alike. The film is the official Hindi remake of the Telugu movie, ‘Bhagamathie’ starring Anushka Shetty in the lead role.
