Bollywood actor and politician Govinda made headlines on Tuesday when news broke that he accidentally shot himself in the leg with his personal revolver. According to Mumbai Police, the licensed firearm accidentally discharged as the actor was placing it back in his cupboard, resulting in the injury.
Several celebrities, including filmmaker David Dhawan and veteran actor-politician Shatrughan Sinha, visited Govinda in the hospital to check on his condition. Stars like Arbaaz Khan and Arshad Warsi also expressed their concern and wished Govinda a speedy recovery during the trailer launch of their film 'Bandaa Singh Chaudhary'. Arshad commented, "It’s very unfortunate. We all feel very bad about what happened."
Agreeing with Arshad's statement, Arbaaz Khan added, "What Arshad says is absolutely right ke bahut hi unfortunate incident hai."
Govinda underwent emergency surgery to remove the bullet, and according to his manager, Shashi Sinha, the actor is now stable and recovering. Sinha explained, "Govinda was putting his licensed revolver away when it slipped from his hand, causing it to fire and hit him in the leg. The doctor successfully removed the bullet, and his condition is stable."
Shatrughan Sinha, who visited Govinda at the hospital, reassured the media, stating, "He is stable, his condition is good. It was an accident, and there are no ifs or buts in accidents."
Several other industry figures, including actor Jackky Bhagnani and comedian Sudesh Lehri, were also spotted visiting Govinda to offer their support.
In an audio message shared with the media, Govinda expressed his gratitude towards the doctor who treated him and thanked his fans for their prayers. "With the blessings of my fans, parents, and God, I am doing better now. The bullet has been removed, and I thank the doctor, Dr Agarwal ji, and all of you for your prayers," he said.
Govinda is expected to be discharged from the hospital in the next day or two.
